Rear Brake Lights Constant On

Just happened today. Looked it up in the book and it might be the stop lamp switch just above the brake pedal that needs replacing.

Though I did find a piece of cracked plastic on the foot board which might be the part on the other end or one end of the clevis pin.

Any thoughts on this?

When I take the wires out of the stop lamp switch the lamps go out. But that plastic sure has me thinking the clevis pin plastic retainer. Only it's a dark blue.

My old Jeep did that once. The brake pedal got a little slop in it and would lay on the switch enough to turn the lights on. Check to see if the lights go out if you put your foot behind the pedal and lift up. If so, you might be able to adjust the switch mount for a bit more clearance.

That plastic was a part that rested on the brake pedal assembly. So that the switchs would touch it when the brake pedal is released.

Turns out I didn't need a switch eventhough I bought one anyways.

I just took some metal bolts and put double sided electrical tape through the bolt and placed them in the holes.

This is probably why my cruise control hasn't been working.

Going to take it for a test drive now.
