OK I see that the 89 Dizzy is different than the 90 dizzy. Can anyone tell me the difference other than about 150.00 bucks?

 

I have an 89n that I have no spark in and I have changed the coil on it and tested the Transistor on the side still no spark. So I think that it may be the Crank position sensor on the Dizzy problem is here in Hawaii it's about 160.00 and the whole dizzy is 200.00. That being said I can get one for a 90 model year for about 60.00? Thanks in advance

OK So I'm going to up date this. I have checked the part numbers on the dizzy and this one is 22100 16Eo2. Now that being said all the others from 88 to like 96 are 22100 16E03 E01, E04 This 89 year is the only one with the E02 Dizzy part number. Now what in the world could be that different on this make model year that is not on all the others that are Pathfinders. Maximas, Frontiers, and even some Fords?

 

I'm Lost for really reals! LOL

Hmm. The Rockauto catalog shows different distributors between '89 and '93. The only difference I can see in the pictures is that the cap for the TBI has the wires sticking out the sides rather than the top. Some of the listings for the position sensors aren't the same--but there is one part number in common between the two. PN is LX653, looks like Rockauto has it cheaper than you were quoted (though I don't know what shipping to HI costs).

The MPFI distributor is larger around and taller than one for a TBI model. Plus the valve cover has a dimple in it to clear the cap and the mount plate that bolts to the head is different. You can swap over to the newer style distributor but you'll have to dimple the valve cover, get a set of MPFI plug wires and for a few of the cylinders and the mounting plate for the base. There's a thread on it somewhere on here. I don't really see a benefit to the swap though, but some may argue differently.

 

As for the crank position sensor I don't think they're different but they might be so double check.
