Mrelcocko
98 Pathfinder 5 speed idles up and down. Sometimes when coming to a stop or when pulling off. Its periodically when it does this, but here lately getting worse. Changed temp sensor, plugs/wires, replaced horrible leaking valve cover gaskets both sides, fuel filter, air filter , cracked vacuum hoses, overflow reservoir and pcv valve. Also cleaned MAF sensor and throttle body. Could this be an IAC issue TPS or sticky throttle body. Please help Ive been dealing with this for 5 months now. Slartibartfast
Your throttle body is cable driven, so that shouldn't be making it surge. I dealt with a similar issue on my '95 where the idle would falter in drive/stopped, either until it died or until it surged up again, then dropped, then surged. IIRC screwing around with the wiring to the MAF and TPS seemed to get it going again. Could be the idle switch in the TPS isn't telling the computer to make the engine idle. Cuong Nguyen
Cracked intake tube? I'm not sure if the brake booster or power steering affect it. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using Tapatalk
