Factory Keyless Entry

Recommended Posts

I have a 1995 XE with factory alarm switch on the console. Bought a remote for it. Started to go thru the steps to program it. I have the alarm box under the front driver's seat, but it has no yellow button to press to enter programming mode. Also tried the sequence for a 96 model. Also called a Nissan dealership, that guy couldn't tell me his name, it was probably on his shirt. Any suggestions?

Ok....doing the sequence after replacing the siren....4 beeps, then a weird noise, then the box beeps and clicks....can't get the remote to program...changed the battery in the remote....also each time I kill the truck the siren chirps....any suggestions?

Hmm. The beep is a programming error chirp IIRC.

what doe sthe status light on the swtich do when you go through the proceedure. Does it flash at all? Does it flash very fast ?

Good idea checking the hood pin.

It may sound completely dumb to ask, but did you put the remote battery in upside down?

Do all of the four door and rear hatch switches work properly? Does the dome light go on and off as you open and close each one at a time? Do the door lock actuators work properly?

When I first got my truck, my doors would lock but I noticed that the alarm would never passively activate. Investigation showed that the pin for the hood switch in the connector under the seat was actually bent and not making contact. The damned truck always thought the hood was open. That is the one thing that there is no idiot light for on the dash. I was getting a buzz rather than a beep when I armed the system. I would check the pins in the connector first. Check the diagram in the FSM for the pin-out and you can check the hood switch from there.
