Ive been looking round on other sites about fabing your own, and got really interested. So I decided to come up with a version I would like. It would be something like the one I made a draft of, maybe different. But i think it looks really awesome. B)

I'll try to photoshop it on my ride, but idk if it'll work.

I haven't looked but I will not drill into my roof to install ski racks. I often am the "designated driver" with up to 4-5 patrolmen in my rig. There is not enough room inside for skis, gear, etc. I want a nice clamp on rack.

Anybody got a good ones or ideas?

This guy mounted it on his cross bars on top. I plan to drill and put a t-bolt in my cross bars to mount it to the car. http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f11/build-your-own-roof-rack-70-a-1290752/

And now that I look at it, I have way to much metal for it. But that is why its a rough draft.

Remember, the stock rack/rails are rated to something like 80 lbs, so don't get too ambitious. That is part of the attraction of the Xterra roof rack mod, especially if you put plates underneath. They are rated 120-150lbs or something stock. I believe the Thule and what ever else gutter mounts have better pay load.
