Nissan Voluntary Service Campaign

All-

Has any one seen or heard of this "recall" or defect. After many months of trying to figure out what is wrong with my 04 Pathfinder, I found this on nissanhelp.com. It is a voluntary service campaign from Nissan dealing with bolts either not being torqued correctly or bolts being defective that connect the driveshaft to the differential side flange. I am not sure if this will fix my problem but I am sure hoping. 2 weeks after I bought my vehicle, I started noticing some wierd vibrations, the dealership after many attempts to fix it, just gave up. I even got an attorney involved, but no luck. Over time it has gotten progressively worse. It is a vibration through the steering, the floorboard, the seats, etc. I have bought new tires, had them road force balanced, etc. no luck. Here is the link to the document.

Has anyone seen this or is anyone else out there having this problem, and do you thing this could be what could potentially be causing my problems? The only concern is that my VIN # does not fall within what they are saying is affected. It is extremely close to the numbers listed though.

Thanks.

I haven't heard anything but what was the outcome of getting a lawyer? If it sounds like you got a lemon, then they should try to fix it or replace it since it seems like its still falls under the warranty.

Well, my lawyer sent a formal letter claiming the non conforming condition, ie the Lemon Law and the letter went straight to Nissan's arbitration center in California. From there, they sent out a Nissan technical specialist, a glorified mechanic to drive the vehicle. It was a waste of time. He tried to tell me that it was just engine resonance and that it was normal. I then talked to his boss and she considered the case closed unless I wanted to get my lawyer and take them to court. I just gave up on it after that...

Wanted to let everyone know that this "recall" did not affect my vehicle or my problems. But some great news, after 7 months with a brand new 04 Pathfinder that has had some issues since day 1, a great service guy at Crown Nissan in Birmingham AL took the time to listen and to drive the vehicle with me. (This is another dealership than the one that I got an attorney involved with.) After a couple of days of diagnosis and him admitting that there is a problem, they are replacing the front differential and both ouput shafts. It is about darn time. I just can not believe someone is finally trying to resolve my problem. Kudo's to Crown and I hope this resolves the issue. A word of advise, if you know something does not feel right and you know something is wrong, don't back down. Keep persistent and over time you will come out ahead.

Great job and I agree.

I had many things taken care of for my 01 LE by being persistent and determined (calm and professional like you). Eventually the dealer service managers would give up and fix my multiple complaints numerous times. They found a way to take care of it that benefits us both (free of course! ).

It involved a lot of service visits and complaints. Opportunity costs, yes, but it is the principal. :D A lot of time well spent to get what I want.

Just in case I ever need a good service guy, what was his name? The Maxima in my signiture came from Crown and my family has 2 other Nissans - never know when a strange problem might occur. As a matter of fact, I was out there this morning getting an oil filter for my Maxima. Good luck getting it fixed!
