GoGlow442 Posted July 2, 2013 Share Posted July 2, 2013 (edited) I pushed the green tab in till it locked in the "fully depressed/fully compressed" state, then pulled connector off of TPS. Problem is that green tab is staying "fully compressed" (toward the head of the connector) and when i push the connector back onto the TPS it doesn't "latch" on. How do I get the tab back to the "relaxed" state. Tried gently pushing it backward and searching around with a very small computer screwdrive to release the green slide but unsuccessful so far. GoGlow442 Posted July 2, 2013 Author Share Posted July 2, 2013 Yes, it's the notorious "new for 2000 and later models" grey body connector with the green slide tab. In the Service Manual, Section EL, Page 5, it is described as a "HARNESS CONNECTOR (SLIDE-LOCKING TYPE) WATERPROOF VERSION" but the manual only describes how to remove it off a terminal. The manual states that the "HARNESS CONNECTOR (SLIDE-LOCKING TYPE)" also comes in BOTH a waterproof and non-waterproof version. Each operates completely different from each other!!! Mine is the under-hood, engine type, WATERPROOF. The manual does not say anything about resetting/re-arming/reattching the connector. When I took it off, I pushed/slid the "green slide" with a screwdriver till it clicked and stayed fully depressed into the connector before I pulled the entire connector off of the terminal. I don't think I actually broke it. The problem still is that the "geen slide" won't go back to the original position (still locked in fully depressed position). GoGlow442 Posted July 5, 2013 Author Share Posted July 5, 2013 RESOLVED. Lubed green slide button AGAIN with silicone spray and blew out with air. Pushed connector onto the terminal - nothing happened. Then WIGGLED terminal while pushig VERY HARD and like magic the mystery internal release mechanism released the green tab, it popped back to the relaxed position and the connector locked onto the terminal.
