Another tire thread about tread

Alright well I've decided to go with 245/75/16s on stock ride height, mud-flap delete and a little scissor work makes them work fine apparently BUT! Now we're on to which one is the best for the money?

The terrain:

New England, mud, rocks, trails, grass, snow... everything? It's NOT a dry place, very hummid up here and sometimes we wonder where the sun is because it rains quite a bit, unpredictably.

Hankook Dyna Pro ATM $130 (this can't be right)

Toyo Open Country AT2 $168

General Grabber AT2 $158

Goodyear DuraTrac $179 (but I've seen some in the same size that are $200 each?)

Cooper Discovery ST-Maxx $192

I obviously want the best bang for buck... I also forgot the Nitto Terra Grappler AT I think...

I want the most versitile, best bang for buck, good looks obviously and that is about it.

I recommend these. $108 a pop, and have been wonderful tires to drive- both highway and offroad.

I don't think an MT is a good idea considering how much rain we get, even though rain creates mud I might not be able to run that size due to the aggressive tread.

I'm living in SE Idaho where its winter about 5-6 months of the year. They've been great in the snow and awesome in the rain. I got the ones with kedge grip (scroll down on their page to read about it). Its built in walnut shells and glass where the shells pit out and end up with some great siping. The tread is much more AT than MT in my opinion, but thats my 2 cents. For the best bang for the buck, retreads have been worth it for me.

https://treadwright.com/p-33-245-75r16-axiom-a-t-e.aspx These are only 99/ea for an AT

https://treadwright.com/p-34-245-75r16-warden-a-t-e.aspx and these are only 90/ea for ones that look just like the BFG ATs... Click the size you want on the left had side of the page to see all the options in that size.

Check out Falken Rocky Mountains. Same tire as a Falken Wild Peak, just exclusive to Americas/Discount tire.

I read all the reviews on discount tire and there were quite a few people that had issues with them, especially in snow/ice.

Here's my :my2cents: ...

Daily Driving All-Terrain:

  • Yokohama Geolander AT/S
  • All-around great everyday tire that seems to be able to handle a little bit of everything. I'm buying another set in March for my wife's SUV.

Wheeling All-Terrain:

  • Goodyear DuraTrac
  • I consider it a cross btw an AT and MT because the center section is AT-like, the outer lugs are quite large and well spaced apart (which clears mud/snow), and the whole thing has factory siping. It is the best tire I've ever had for what I like to do.
