Cory74700
Need a list of all the front suspension bushing names, ie. lower control arm bushing, strut/ panhard rod bushing etc... Any help is much appreciated and thanked for in advance. I'd prefer if it was in a 1,2,3,4 list but I'm not picky, thanks from all y'all ahead of time. ahardb0dy
Upper control arm bushings (2 per side) Lower control arm bushing (1 per side) Compression ( or strut rod) bushings, lower control arm (2 per side with new sleeves)- lot of members use Moog part sway bar end link bushings (4 per side) sway bar to frame bushings (1 per side) shock bushings ( 2 per side top, 1 per side bottom) see pic below shows shopping cart from rock auto showing all except the shock bushings: I like Moog parts but other brands are available from rockauto or you can get them from Rob thru the genuine Nissan parts thread here: http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/topic/18653-genuine-nissan-parts/page-17?do=findComment&comment=59429044 or from a local dealer. Cory74700
This is exactly what I needed, thank you so much for such a quick response, my shock bushings are fine I just replaced them with Monroe nitrogen charged shocks along with my lower ball joints but the rest, along with my upper ball joints I need to replace same with my torsion bars so I'm guessing a good estimate would put me in the $300-$400 range to replace all that. Once again thank you for this info, the way you presented it was outstanding as well and I hope you had a great Christmas yesterday too. Cheers.
ahardb0dy
Your welcome, if you decide to order from Rockauto there is a 5% off code somewhere on this site. Everytime someone places an order they receive a new code, anyone can use anyone's code so we share the code so someone else can use it. Make sure the torsion bars you get are for the pathfinder, they are slightly longer than the ones for the Hardbody pickup. sway a way has the torsion bars for $205 http://www.swayaway.com/torsionbars.php There are other sources for the bars as well, 4x4 parts.com has them for $210 - https://www.4x4parts.com/nissan/pathfinder-torsion-bars-p-94.html
Cory74700
I've checked out Sway-A-Way, and it wasn't too specific on wether the $205 was for the pair or individual, I'm hoping for the pair, because thats a pretty steep price for some steel bars ha, once again thanks for the help i really appreciate it. ahardb0dy
pair, no problem Don't forget torsion bars are usually labeled left and rights Edited December 27, 2012 by ahardb0dy
Cory74700
So I found these on summit racing and the price is right, just want some input of the manufacturer as I've never heard of them. Thanks. if you need a bigger picture to see the names and info, I can do that as well. Edited December 27, 2012 by Cory74700
Slartibartfast
From the measurements on Swayaway's site it looks like only the 2wd hardbody has the shorter torsion bars. I think a few people on here run Energy Suspension bits with no problems. I've never heard of AutoExtra though. Cory74700
Hmm well I guess I'll give them all a shot, I'm sure summit offers some sort of a warranty or I can contact the manufacturer directly, got nothing to lose. Thank you for the input.
ahardb0dy
The sway a way site lists the torsion bar lengths as: 86-99 2wd Hardbody 34 13/16" 86-97 4wd hardbody 47 7/16" 87-97 4wd pathfinder 48 7/16" Don't know if the pathfinder bars are actually 1" longer or if that is a typo Cory, the Enrgy Suspension strut arm bushings and control arm bushings look correct, the sway bar bushings do not. Slartibartfast
It shows both as 27.5mm and then has one inch different in standard. I'm leaning towards typo... then again the part # is different for some reason. Edited December 29, 2012 by Slartibartfast
Cory74700
So I took a peek under my pathfinder today and those sway bar links are the front that attach the sway bar to the lower control arm and they're perfect size I did measurements and all to match it, I also replaced a bad sway bar link in the rear today took about 30 mins total from cutting to replacment with the new one and here's a couple pics of cuts and new <a href=http://s699.photobucket.com/albums/vv352/cory9999/?action=view¤t=IMAG0010.jpg target=_blank><img src=http://i699.photobucket.com/albums/vv352/cory9999/IMAG0010.jpg border=0 alt=></a> <a href=http://s699.photobucket.com/albums/vv352/cory9999/?action=view¤t=IMAG0011.jpg target=_blank><img src=http://i699.photobucket.com/albums/vv352/cory9999/IMAG0011.jpg border=0 alt=></a>
Tungsten
Just one advice. If you are going to use polyurethane bushings they will give you a much harsher but stiffer ride. Also they wear faster. I have tried both rubber and poly bushings. The rubber ones last longer and have a better ride. The poly ones don't last as long but are stiffer if you want that. I have mixed opinions on using poly vs rubber on the strut rod bushings. You want them stiff but at the same time you want them to last long and not throw the alignment off. I currently run aftermarket rubber ones there and they seem to be fine. Just use factory sleeves because they fit over the strut rod better. Cory74700
Oh I was just basing it on the fact that come springtime I'm doing a SAS anyway so they don't need to last too long either that or I was considering a full independent suspension but that'd be white the tricky setup I still have some time to think it out
