1987caddy
I did the 90 amp maxima alternator swap a few months ago and worked out good. Used my old belt that was a dayco 17370. Switched to gates brand belts and its too short. Does anyone know the correct part number for belt? They're saying 9361m but its too short. Trogdor636
The alternators are basically the same other than the internals and the belt pulley. My belt was tight getting it on, but it went. You've turned the adjuster bolt all the way in?
1987caddy
I took the adjuster completely out and the belt was still too short. Dayco and Gates show different lengths with the dayco being longer. I went with a 1 inch longer gates belt and the alternator is in the middle of adjuster so everything is back together
Precise1
I was going to say that the old belt is probably just stretched, but it looks like you got it figured out. Do you recall the belt number? B
1987caddy
The belt was so tight, I had to take the fan off and put the fan pulley on the water pump. So I went with a Gates 9370. Gates site shows a 9361 but its too short
