need some towing advice

I have a 96 4x4, and need to tow it on a tow dolly about 900 miles. Would I be crazy to do so, or would I be OK as long as the drive shaft is disconnected?

Two wheel drive vehicles with auto tranny may be towed with the rear wheels on a towing dolly with no mileage restriction as long as you obey the speed limit, if all four corners are grounded its advised no more than 50 miles at a time or tranny damage will happen. I take it yours is part time 4x4? If so leave it in Neutral but the book says to keep it to 500 miles.

If you remove the drive shaft, tow it all you want.

 

Damage comes from the fact that the transmission isn't lubricated properly when the output shaft is turning, and nothing else.

figure ill use this thread to ask a quick question... im okay to tow a 96 pathy, with a 96 pathy, right? im picking one up to get parts out of it

OK and all I have to do is pull those 4 bolts and secure it to the car right?
