Patrick
I had my exhaust manifold leak repaired, but there is still an annoying sound like rocks rattling in a can-all the time. I took the car back in to the Nissan Dealership thinking that there might be another broken stud and they said my BPT valve was making the noise. Has anyone had a similar experience and how important is this part? Thanks.
88pathoffroad
Your BPT valve is a back-pressure transducer valve. It's used inline with the EGR valve to regulate recirculated exhaust gases into the intake via the EGR valve. Kinda wierd, considering they quit using BPT valves on the V6...I think...there's an EGR control valve solenoid that does that instead on the 88 and newer vehicles.
