Hey guys new to this informative site.

My compression rod snapped last night and I need one quick. Is these easy to obtain. It does not look too difficult to replace.

Any suggestion on where to oreder from and how long the install is.

There's a pic in the chilton manual 8-10 for reference fig.50

Is this a common problem for anybody? I was crawling around underneath today cranking on suspect bolts, and the passenger side compression rod was loose by several turns while the drivers side stayed still. The bushings for both seemed pretty solid, and free of any cracking.

The common problem on those is having the frame mount rust out inside the bushings, then the rod starts to move around in the hole under compression and it ovals out the frame... Then you have to weld in new cups to seat the bushings against cause the frame's got a big hole in it.

Total install time took about 1 hour.

Those bolts were frozen solid. A little heat and a lead pipe for

leverage and done. Couldnt get it to line up correctlyin the begining. Turned the wheel a little and a little banging. Done.
