Fergie
In the pas few weeks, the ABS light on my 1996 Pathfinder has been coming on and staying on during some of the time. I havent noticed a pattern or certain condition that causes it, and haven't noticed a change in the vehicle. In other vehicles, I know the ABS light can be part of the alternator check circuit, is that the case with these models? Is there a set of troubleshooting steps I can use to diagnose whether this is a fuse/relay, sensor, or alternator related? Any help, or pointing me in the right direction is appreciated. Thank you, G
Towncivilian
Dirty brake fluid can be a possible culprit for an intermittent ABS light I'd imagine. Check your brake fluid level. When was the last time the fluid was flushed? Brake fluid is hygroscopic (absorbs water) and this can lead to corrosion and a lowered boiling point of the brake fluid. WarehouseRat
replace the sensor, its a independend sub-system, and the brake fluid woundn't make the abs light come on but it will make the brake light come on, u can test the moisture level of the brake fluid with a some simple brake test strips
