  1. Thankfully, a god buddy owns a shop in town to which I have free access when the rack is open. I've never used spilt bushings before; is their life any less due to the two-piece design? On the 4x4parts page, I don't see any rear sway bar bushings for the R50. Am I missing it or are these only available from the factory? On the strut bearing, are there any additional associated parts with it, or need to be replaced in conjunction with it?
  2. Are the two-piece bushings like the ones in the link below any good? https://www.4x4parts.com/nissan/pathfinder-complete-trailing-arm-bushing-kit-p-6250.html or https://www.4x4parts.com/nissan/complete-pathfinder-split-design-trailing-arm-bushing-kit-p-6244.html THanks for the link on the parts
  3. Hello all, I'm relatively new to the world of R50s, even though we've had our 1996 since new and over 205k miles. With that kind of mileage, I'm at the point that I would like to replace the bushing in the various wear parts of the suspension. I've already installed a complete OME kit, and the ride is much improved. However, when I had the Pathy on the lift today, I saw that many of the control arm bushings are shot and in need of replacement. I see poly kits on some of the Nissan and Pathfinder specific vendor sites, but I would like to know if it easier in the long run to just replace the entire control arm than bother with 2 bushing per arm. I also think that the top portion of the strut needs replaced, but I haven't found the correct name or PN for it. So, to sum it up: 1. What are your thoughts on replacing the bushings vs replacing the entire CA? 2. What is the name for the top part of the strut that need replacing? And three, what is the best online source for OEM parts? The local dealer is incredibly expensive on Subaru parts, so I know they will be on the Nissan parts as well. Thanks for the help. G
  4. In the pas few weeks, the ABS light on my 1996 Pathfinder has been coming on and staying on during some of the time. I havent noticed a pattern or certain condition that causes it, and haven't noticed a change in the vehicle. In other vehicles, I know the ABS light can be part of the alternator check circuit, is that the case with these models? Is there a set of troubleshooting steps I can use to diagnose whether this is a fuse/relay, sensor, or alternator related? Any help, or pointing me in the right direction is appreciated. Thank you, G
  5. I got the vehicle back up and running the other day, and once again, I am pleased as can be with Old Man Emu products. This makes the 4th OME suspension system on as many vehicles, and I will continue to buy their products! For the record, this was a .5" lift, basically stock height but with better handling and load carrying capability.
  6. Tye, Yes, those are OME 143 and 144 struts, with 921 coils. I bought them from Kurt @ Cruiser Outfitters in January of 2010, and am just getting around to installing them on the Pathfinder. I didn't have any issue ordering them, and when I spoke with ARB just this morning, there was no mention of a bad design or anything of that nature. What I find out is that the "new" boxes had been pilfered of the required spacers...ARB is taking care of that though, so no complaints.
  7. That is not the case, but thanks. A short call to ARB USA lead to the solution! The struts did not come with the required spacer for this installation, hence the gap. The spacers are on their way from WA and I should be good to go.
  8. Hello all, I just finished installing a set of OME coils and shock in the rear of my 1996 Pathfinder, and a set of new struts and coils in the front. For the front, I used the 143S and 144S struts, and the 921 coils. I had a local shop remove the top bearing plates from the old struts and install them on the new ones. THe bearing plates were in good shape and the rubber was too. So, with the new coils installed on the new struts, I reinstalled everything and torqued the fasteners to spec. Now, when the vehicle was resting on the ground, with all the weight it would have on it, I noticed that the top strut rod nut was not all the way tight to the top plate. I tried tightening it further, but the rod just spun. You can see in the pictures below how much play there is. So, what am I missing here? Were the coils not installed properly on the struts? Is there a spacer that needs to be used specific to the coils and struts? What??? Thanks for looking, and I appreciate the help. Gavin Passenger side: Driver Side:
