TRANS IS ACTING FUNNY

so ive noticed this alot more in the last couple weeks... so ill be driving and i stop to see a trail and when i go to take off again it feels like the trans doesnt shift down to first like it should unless i give it half throttle...any ideas what it could be?

What is the fluid like? Do you have good flow through the cooler? Do you run the stock cooler or an aftermarket?

 

That said, I often need to give some throttle to get the tranny to kick down...

i just did a fluid and filter change, and im running a very small aftermarket trans cooler like REAL SMALL, and i notice that the tranny gets real hot and i cant even touch it.. should i upgrade to a bigger trans cooler?

That would be a yes. I even went so far as to install a tranny temp gauge inline on the way to the cooler. Not expensive or difficult...

ANYONE GOT A PIC OF THE SIZE I NEED FOR THE TRANSCOOLER,, and i do need a temp gauge.. whats the hottest it should be getting

ya my 4wd shifter boot thingy is gone so i can touch the trans when driving and its pretty hot and i get a draft of hot air from the hole..no heater needed..lol

This is like what I run, bypassing the stock cooler.

My gauge rarely hits 180 degrees, but I haven't put it to the test in the summer yet and will probably go with a larger unit. Stick with the 3/4 thick ones, they are much easier to fit.
