Intake air plenum

Does anyone know the throttle body size on a VG33 pathfinder intake? Also does the air plenum have more volume than the VG30 plenum? I've been searching the web for this info and cant find it. I searched Z31.com but don't want to post the question because they insult almost every question asked!

I'm putting parts together for my 3.3 build and was planning on using the 3.0 pathfinder intake with a 60mm throttle body. In the pick a part I compared the 60mm from a 240sx to a VG33 throttle body and the VG33 looks the same or larger. I found one site where a guys stated the VG33 pathfinder had a 70mm TB but it didn't seem like he knew what he was talking about.

Now I'm not sure which intake I should use. If the VG33 intake has more volume won't that affect my low end power?

Also anyone find a knowledgeable VG forum that is friendly like this one? I don't feel like getting insults instead of answers.

Upgrading the throttle body size won't gain you anything with a stock plenum. The larger size goes hand in hand with gutting the intake, and yes that will drastically kill your low-end torque.

Just a reminder, if you do go with a larger throttle body the intake bore needs to be matched.

I agree, the guys at z31.com are jackasses which is why z31performance.com was started. There's an epic assload of information on that site but you must become a member to view any threads.

I was planning on porting out the intake to match the TB. I know it has coolant passages but not sure how close they are to the TB area so I'm not sure how much I could take out. So you also think sticking with the VG30 intake on the VG33 motor would be better for low end?

I have pics. Go to my Photobucket album. The photos are in the vg33 folder. ]http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y5/cuongnutz/VG33/intake%20upgrade/

As mentioned, the vg33 intake plenum tv port is already bigger to match the tb. Can't fit the vg33 tb on the vg30 because of the difference in size and bolt hole alignment. I still have a loose vg33 intake plenum that I can measure for you when I get some time.

I knew the TB from the VG33 wouldn't fit on the VG30 plenum, I was thinking of using the whole intake setup from the VG33. Is that what you did? That is what it looks like from all your pictures. How did everything fit?

IMO 60mm is pretty Ideal for a 3.3 in an SUV. Some vehcles get a rude throttle response when the TB is too big because you have less refined contol over the air going in.

Yes I know what you mean. Some guys on clubtitan put a 90mm TB on their titans, they came with a 70mm or 76mm IIRC. Yes it snaps your neck when you take off but it doesn't yield much more acceleration.

I'm just figuring that if I'm going with a 3.3 with aftermarket cams I should at least have the same size intake the 3.3 came with. In the project pathfinder article they never mentioned changing any of the intake parts other than a pop charger.

IIRC Mr510 stated that there was no real point in messing with the stock intake because it readily moves more air than the VG can use. Light port/polish, put on a free flowing filter and a straight intake tube and call it good.

I'm in no way saying you shouldn't do your intake project, but as I understand it, it won't make a huge difference.
