I have a 2003 taht is leaking oil from a device just below the alternator on the passenger side of the engine. It appears to be two vacuum lines coming from it about 3/8" in size. they are attached to thedevcie that is about 4" diameter and is about an inch thick an it looks like plastic and then is attached to a metal part bolted to the engine block.

Any guesses waht his might be. Auto store has named it the manifold Vacuum gauge? Cant find this anywhere.

Thanks for the feedback

Hey there and welcome. You have the VQ35 motor and I am not familiar with them so I can't identify it, sorry.

This would get more attention as a technical question in the R50 section, so I'm moving it and leaving a link...

That is your engine oil cooler o-ring. yes vqs have that (only on automatic trans ones).. No special tools needed but a long 15mm ratchet key might be usefull. Get the part at you nissan dealer only ..cost is minimal and the leak will be gone. You do not need to change the oil or time it with an oil change cause the oil will be lower in the pan.

This is the part you need :

called an oil cooler o-ring.

part numer you want is : 21304 .. some people also buy the smaller o-ring : 21334, but mine was still good and did not need it.

by the way, the vq all eventually leak oil from this originally. I guess the initial o-ring at the factory was a bas design... When I changed mine, it was obviously pinched... so here you go... a good 30 minutes to do the job... faster if you have access to a lift

nice info, fleurys!

i'll have to keep an eye on mine or maybe just do some preventative maintenance and replace it on my next oil change. haven't noticed any leaks or weeping, but it never hurts to do it just in case.
