MY1PATH
take em off, do it right; Formula 5 suspension grease from energy suspension. Remove all dirt and oil and thinly Coat the inside and outside of the bushings with formula 5. This stuff will get everywhere if you lay it on thick. Re-assemble Keep a full can of WD40 and a rag handy use it ONLY for cleaning. it will remove the formula 5 from your tools and hads as nothing else seems to work quite as well at removing this super thick suspension grease. You can also get new bushings from calmini (still grease em). The older bushings were Delrin and delrin is extremely squeaky. The newer bushings are vekton which is oil impregnated and quiter. With the use of formula 5 my vecton bushings have been quiet since I installed them over a year ago. Edited November 5, 2010 by MY1PATH
Precise1
You mean Delrin?? They used a hard plastic for the bushings?? I have also heard that waterproof bearing grease (ie for boat trailers) works very well and may be easier/cheaper for you to get. B
MY1PATH
YES, Calmini bushings are VERY hard. Unlike all the other pathy UCA bushings out there out there, the calmini rotate around a machined sleve that is not part of the bushing. They are also a differant size so using aftermarket poly uca bushings is not an option. Edited November 5, 2010 by MY1PATH
nunya
install zerks fittings don't know how the Calminis are but the previous owner of my Superlifts installed them/came with them
OldSlowReliable
Yup...my RC/SL uca's came with zerks, I put them facing the wheel (out of stupidity) so I can't grease em w/my gun, but the oil change places will do it if you ask...I don't squeek after they finish doing it
facebones
just to be sure the zerk fitting are the little grease nipples?? my arms dont have them but i have seen some calmini's that do
Precise1
Yes, correct. I believe the older Calmini's did not have them and when enough people complained of the famous squeaking, they added that feature to the product. B
OldSlowReliable
and its not like they are terribly difficult to do...lol, I've welded zerk fittings in plenty of applications, if you don't know how to use a tap/die set
Precise1
Drill and tap is simple, it's more the removal of the unit to do it is what is annoying... B
