Ball joint torque spec

Recommended Posts

Hey all....tried searching and looked at the pinned topics to no avail.

I read here often but don't post much. I need to know the torque specs for the ball joints on my 2003 Pathfinder. Getting ready to replace them. Stock rig with 117,000 miles on it and shimmying. Jacked her up and checked them and they need replaced.

Thanks in advance......

is it just a shimmy in the steering wheel?

Yes....I've replaced the brakes and rotors, wheel bearings, it has new tires (which I've had the balance re-checked) and still shimmying between 65-75 mph although it doesn't do it all the time, just most of the time.

I don't think it's the rotors because it's not bad when i press on the brakes.

Just tighten them tight, Then tighten them some more. When the nut strips, your good! No, I don't know. If you don't get it soon, I'll let you know later when I gots my manual in front of me.

my chiltons lists balljoint to lower control arm nut as 76-94ftlb

when i did mine i torqued it to 76 and then drove around a bit. then torqued it again to middle of the range and then put the cotter pin in.

Then that's exactly what i'll do too. Thanks very much....I need to get me one of those chilton manuals too then I won't have to ask these questions.

Again......thanks
