wilson
after a slight electrical malfunction this on this weekends trip, I've decided I want to clean up and upgrade my electrical system.first I wanna replace the factory battery terminals with something beefier. I have some military spec units on hand, but I need some new terminators. anyone know a good place to source quality cable connectors or terminators? specifically the a new termination coming from the alternator. also any good ideas to tie the large black connector on the positive terminal into such a unit? ahardb0dy
I have just what you need, but may I recommend these battery terminals too, I have one on my negative right now on my Sentra and have a positive waiting to go on: http://www.streetwires.com/products/default.aspx?grp=67 these are pretty cool and some have a built in fuse as far as connectors I use these: http://www.streetwires.com/products/default.aspx?grp=59 I use the 3rd one down, I found the negative terminal and the ring terminals at this electronic surplus store we have down here they were really cheap, the positive I had to order at regular price from here: http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=263-628 and this is the whole category of streetwires battery terminals :http://www.parts-express.com/wizards/searchResults.cfm?searchFilter=&srchExt=CAT&perPage=27&sortBy=1&layout=grid&page=1&srchPrice=&srchCat=732&srchMfg=353&srchPromo=&srchAttr= and the ring terminals: http://www.parts-express.com/wizards/searchResults.cfm?searchFilter=&srchExt=CAT&perPage=27&sortBy=1&layout=grid&page=1&srchPrice=&srchCat=737&srchMfg=353&srchPromo=&srchAttr= when I upgraded my alternator in my Sentra, (and when I do it in the pathfinder), I ran 4 gauge from the alternator to the battery using those ring terminals, also as I suggested in another thread instead of having a bunch of connections directly on your positive terminal you can run a short peice of 4 gauge to a fused distribution block and than connect any accessories to it, I like this one as you can use a ring terminal on the input with any gauge wire: this is a one in 2 out the one I have is one in 4 out all fused: http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=263-

tmoore4512
Thought about doing the very same thing, as the factory wiring is not designed to handle the current we demand...got me thinking...but its late and I am tired...lol
ahardb0dy
even with the stock alternator upgrading the alt to battery wire and ground can't hurt, I think they refer to this as the big 3 but can't remember what the 3rd wire to upgrade is.
