jroddvette
hey guys, i am getting a knocking noise from the passenger front suspension. it happens when i go over uneven ground, and it sounds like something is swinging around under the truck. i can also get it to make the noise by pushing on the front passenger fender. i have gotten under the truck and had someone push on the fender to see if i could find the problem, and i think it is the front strut. has anyone else had this problem? herm
have you replaced the sway link yet? Its a vertical link that parallels the strut, and the bushings wear out which makes a klunking noise. grab it and see if it has play. they're cheap - 30 or 40$. m. jrvanas
I brought my car to Nissan this morning to get a free 100 point inspection (lets see how many things they want me to fix :contract: ) Anyway, the real point of this post is to tell you that the popping noise I'm hearing was coming from the Right front sway bar. Hopefully this is your problem too. ~Jason
jroddvette
so was the noise the end links or the two mounting bushings? good luck with your inspection.
jrvanas
hey man. Well the noise is not gone - so I have to contact Nissan tomorrow bc i said they could only fix it if the sway bar was 100% of the problem - so I will keep you posted! ~Jason
jroddvette
well, i checked my sway bar link and there was play in it. i replaced it and the noise is gone. but, it was a b*tch of a job. i had to cut the old one off with a cutting wheel. i hope this info helps you guys. thanks for your help! jared. jrvanas
Is the sway bar link different from the actually sway bar? Not sure if it is just one unit or a combo? Thanks ~Jason
jroddvette
the swaybar and the end links are different. the links are at each end of the swaybar. they run vertically and connect to a bracket on the strut. take a look and you will see what i mean. if you can have someone push on the front of your truck to make the clunk, then hold the end link and see if that is the problem. jared
