2001 Pathnder Fob Not Working

one of the two FOBs is not working. Replaced batteries and it worked about threee times. Yesterday, after about 3 months since replacing batteries, checked battery voltage, 3V, so it is still good. After placing the battery back in it's holder, I sprung out the little metal tabs that make the battery connection. Put it all back together and it worker for about 3 times.

SHort of buying a new one, does anyone have any ideas?

any useful suggestions are very appreciated.
