Measure sensor resistance with ohmmeter first. It should be 2100-2900 Ohm at 68 deg.F, 680-1000 Ohm at 122F and 300-330 Ohm at 176F. Then check sensor harness, as described in 1994 FSM, pages EF&EC-86..87. Replace sensor when you're sure that the sensor wiring and connectors have no faults.

 

This is for the coolant temp sensor for the ECU on a WD21.

Another one I just remembered from k9sar is checking the resistance of the O2 sensor, 1-1000 Ohms IIRC?? Feel free to correct...

Confirmed!!

diagnostic procedure 30 in the 95 FSM suppliment will walk you through the check of the O2 circuit and sensor

 

if you want a quick check... disconnect the O2 sensor and check the resistance between the outermost terminals. It should be between 1 and 1000 ohms. The rest of the procedure checks the circuit from the ECU etc.
