Headlight

I have an 02' and was wondering if the headlight assembly can be taken apart to clean and polish the inside of the headlight lens and reflectors. I do see a layer of dust that somehow made it in and has settled to the bottom reflectors. There also seems to be a light haze on the inside of the lenses too. I have polished the outside of the lens with headlight lens polish but would like to clean the inside too.

You could always take them off of the truck, use compressed air to blow the dust out, and rinse the inside with just a tiny bit of cleaner. I would not use something like dish soap though as it may leave a film inside & harsh de greasers may start to remove the "chrome" inside the light....I'm thinking windex diluted in water.

My '02 has the same haze in the drivers side light only.

yes.

although the procedure is not exactly quick and easy.

It involves either: melting the silicon with a heat gun and slowly prying the headlight apart, or putting the headlight assembly in your oven on low heat and then prying it apart. Then, after you do whatever you wanted to do, you put it back together with bathroom silicone.

Ive done this on my previous cars and it works great

i have thought of taking the assembly off the vehicle and pouring soap water in it and slosh it around. then using compressed air to dry it. but if i could also remove the metal shield i could use a small rag on a stick to actually wipe the lens too.
