Front XJ Sport Springs...Will they fit the rear of WD21?

After a search and going through 8 pages of results I couldn't find a definitive answer on whether or not the front springs of a 1996 Jeep XJ Cherokee Sport would fit the rear of the 2 door WD21 Pathy? I know the JGC ones will but at the moment there are none of these on Ebay in the UK. But there are of the XJ hence why I've searched for the answer and am now asking this question.... Because I couldn't find the answer I'm guessing 'no'. Am I right in this assumption?

Thanks

Harv

there are really 3 things to look for... length, diameter and wire size. Typically, jeep springs have a tapered pigtail on them that will need to be rebent or removed before they will fit. I believe the diameter is something on the order of 4 inches or such, the length is around 19 inches but if you want lift, you need to have a wire thickness greater than .52 inches. The reason we specify the JGC springs as 'fitting' is because they are a V8 and typically have a thicker wire diameter to take the weight. Althought there are lots of springs out there that will pohysically be able to be put on the back of a pathy, you may get little or no lift (or even sag) if you choose the wrong set. The sizes I mentioned are just from memory so don't go by that. Read the thread that has that info and look athte specs rather than where they came from.

Here you go Harv, this thread should have all the pertinent information for you to decide if the springs will work or not. You may have to contact the seller and ask for basic dimensions. Good luck and let us know what you find.

Have cherokee(not grand) xj v6/L6 springs in back. I just had to cut the pigtail off. when I lift I will be getting the rough country 3" lift springs (for the xj)because their spring rate is softer than JGC(v8) coils and they cheaper than other brands out there.

edit: xj stock springs may not give you any noticable lift. I did it cause my OE spings were really worn out and sagging so I gained a little.
