anaud14
Here is my story, I just picked up a 95 XE for a decent price. First off, it needs the small bar that attaches the RF control arm to the frame, it's broken in the middle and clunks on bumps. What's the name of this piece so I can pick it up? It has 2 bolts attaching it to the arm, and then one nut on the end to attach it to the frame, with bushings on either side. Secondly, I installed the stereo from my old truck into the pathfinder the other day. I did everything the way it was set up before, but I can't get my subs to work. I'm sure it's been covered, but I'm frustrated with looking for the answer. It's a Clarion head unit running to a Sony amp. The Amp has it's power light on, but is not sending anything to my subs. Might this have something to do with my stock amp? I heard the stock amps are junk in these and should be bypassed, how might one do this? The speakers are working just fine, but this issue with my subs is bothering me. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Alex
Simon
Welcome to NPORA. 1) It's a tension rod. also known as the compression rod. 2) The problem is, if you just installed using a harness to tap into the stock wiring, your new deck is running through the stock amps. So, even at low volume on the deck, it's relatively loud. Because of this, there's not enough output to your sub to get sound out of it, at least, not at any decent level. The amps are in the right rear quarter panel. Bypass them by running speaker wire either from your new deck directly to the speakers, or by running them to the spot where the amps are, and splicing into the wiring there. Ramon
yep I have the same problem with those I have to change also the relay rod (also know as the center link ) is the large bar from the steering that holds both sides tension rods in close turns it start to "cry" LOL and after remove all those bushings sound go away Hope yours is not so bad as was mine in the picture In the case of the stereo system I have no sub installation experience but seems your post will be help for further projects
glenn
I agree w/ Simon regarding stereo. Here's another way to solve stereo problem: http://www.mcmelectronics.com/product/60-4...ELAID=220576095 If it was me, I'd probably just bypass the amps, like Simon suggested. Good Luck ! - glenn

A is the outer tie rod. C is the tension rod.
anaud14
Thanks for the help guys. I've got my mechanical problems solved, not I've just gotta get my speakers rewired it seems. I'll probably just run new wires off my deck to my speakers, if I do this, will I have to do anything with the stock amp, or just leave it?
