93 SE-V6 with both the Lego and Chrome rims sets. Can't afford a new set of rims so changing backspace that way is out of the question.

 

Has anyone here used wheel backspacers to achieve that wider stance? If so, what are they like? Pros and cons? Any recommended brands?

Look around. Ebay, Craigslist, etc. You'd be suprised what comes up sometimes, especially when you have a set of rims to sell to defray the cost. Remember, the 5.5"x6 bolt pattern we use is the same as a lot of Chevys so that opens up some options.

While some people here have used wheel spacers, it is usually to get a little bit of clearance that is needed, not just for looks. I don't recommend them for the first reason and would not even consider them for the second reason. :shrug:

What's the reason for not wanting to recommend/consider this option?

I see it as being more pieces to break. you can never get a spacer with 6 bolts to be as strong as the molecular bond of the actual metal used to make the rim (correct or incorrect spacting) and then your going to bolt the wheel onto the end of that in addtion?

 

I got my AR Baja 15x8 (5 of them) for less than 450 new and I saw sets of used ultra wheels (4) on craigslist for 1-200 all the time b4 I decided to just buy new ones. Infact once I get my Bajas painted I migth be selling my AR Outlaw II 15x7 (5) for about 200.
