Anyone running a non nissan tranny behind there nissan v6? I need to replace the auto tranny in my pathfinder, but don't want to swap in another nissan tranny. I'd like to keep it auto so the gf can drive it, just wondering what people have done since the stock auto trannys are such turds.... Will eventually do an engine swap, but not for a while....

Put a 5-speed in. Nothing else will bolt to the V6 but the RE4R01A 4-speed automatic, the FS5R30A 5-speed manual and the old L4N71B 3-speed automatic they had in the 86.5-87's. The FS5R30A 5-speed will take a lot of abuse, the turbo 300ZX guys use the same transmission.

there is one more option if your 2wd; allot of the 5spd 2wd pathfinders used a Borg Warner T5 yes, thats right, a mustang tranny. but really 88 is right about noting being better that the Nissan 5 spd as long as you keep it filled with 5.1L of GL-4 (not 3.6, see nissan TSB)

what did the FS5R30A 5-speed come in? models? years? don't have that much knowledge when it comes to nissans yet.... its a 4x4 and will be running 38.5's or 39.5's, the axles will be 1 tons geared 5.38....

Teach her to drive stick...its not all that hard I taught a couple people how to drive and I taught an ex on the pathy but she opted to not continue her driving lessons after I yelled at her b/c she was rolling back on a bmw and just yelled more clutch and then she didnt do it and we stopped like a half inch from him...she set the brake and got out

if my brother can drive stick anyone can...he bought an escort with a MT and never drove one before...it was rather funny at 1st but I think thats a skill that everyone should have...

put the MT in and you'll be good to go...if she doesnt want to learn then get a new gf

It came in 87-9? VG30 and vg33 pathfinders and hardbodies and I thought it came in the 4x4 4bangers too

It also cam in ?? 300zx but the rear of the tranny was differant so it wont bolt up to the t-case
