Guess What? Transmission's Shot.

So, like everyone else out there, my trans went bad in my 91 SE, along with the torque converter. We're in no place to have someone replace it for us, so 2 things:

A). Can the motor and tranny be dropped from underneath more easily than just trying to get the transmission out by itself?

B). Does anybody know where we can get a transmission for anywhere around $200?

Thanks, i appreciate everyone's time.

No, I don't believe it would be easier at all. Only a few people have pulled the motor and tranny as a unit, and I still don't understand why they did...

As for a 200 dollar tranny, that may be hard to find, especially if it was gaurenteed to be functional. Probably your best bet is to buy a crashed/blown motor/rotted frame Pathy and swap everything over to make it a manual tranny drive.

I'm with B. In Ohio, you may be able to find a complete vehicle with a salt rotted out chassis and a blown engine for free or next to nothing.... but a known good tranny outside of a vehicle usually commands a higher price.
