csutke
So on my way back to the rig about a week ago I started noticing that the tranny was acting weird. Maybe its just cause its a different engine, I used to drive an R50 with the VG and now drive an R50 with the VQ and it was the first time that I had spent some real time in my new ride. What would happen is going up even a slight hill, the tranny would have real hard up shifts to 4th, and if I left of the gas before it would shift the tranny would act like it was in N, meaning that as soon as I let off the gas the RPM's would take a huge dive from around 3k+ to around idle RPM's. Oh BTW I have an 04 with 53k miles Edited June 2, 2008 by csutke
Pezzy
I've noticed mine is lagtastic, especially on long gradual hills, or really steep hills. Do you turn the overdrive off at all doing hills?
csutke
Yes I normally try to remember to turn the OD off.
Kittamaru
I believe you can pre-select the gear setup... if you're at lower speeds on long hills, drop down a gear to keep the RPM's stable. *shrugs* If I'm going up a real steep hill, instead of just disabling OD, I'll kick down to 2nd - uses a bit more fuel, but it keeps my speed stable (or lets me accelerate if I feel naughty)... then again, some of the hills around here are almost 60 degree grade... meh.
