got some questions

I have Thorleys and I'd say a set of headers are worth it. Full 2.25" exhaust would be a good thing to do as well. At 160k or so is when I did mine and it really woke the engine up. It'll never be a hot rod, but opening up the exhaust really helped.

i did a google search for thorleys and the only ones i found were over $500 ans said thay would not fit if you had a hydraulic cluch. the pacesetters were long tube and from what people on the bords were saying thay had some interference.

I've got a set of thorleys on my 87 which is a MT...the only thing is my 87 has a 95 engine that came out of an auto...there was a topic on this a while back I think with mwsextreme on the difference between the autos and manuals and if they would fit or not...

thanks for the help. dont mean to be a nuisance. had searched headers several times and never saw the ones you posted. also was wandering if there is any way to pull broken manifold studs.

notta problem not a nuisance at all...yea but its not easy...the way I did mine was when I broke a timing belt and had the heads off and drilled the screws to the right diameter and used a set of screw extractors with a lot of PB blaster...there are several ways to do it but I think you need to lift the body up or get a 90 deg drill to access the screws depending on their location...

Correct. I have installed the Thorley's on both our '87 and '88 5 speeds with no clutch interference. The only interference is with the flex disk in the steering on the '87 with no lift. A little trimming fixed it. With even a small body lift, no problem.

  • 2 weeks later...

i got my thoryel's last week. got them on and the motor back in today. i was wandering if i can run dual exhaust and if so will it mess up the o2 sensor. also what size pipe should i run and any suggestions on muflers.

Donno about the o2 sensor, but the exhaust prolly shouldn't exceed 2.5" diameter or else there will be very little backpressure and you'll lose low end torque. Dual pipes would be cool, but I would figure the same total diameter thing would apply.
