Towing w/ towbar

Recommended Posts

I want to set up my 98 Pathfinder with a towbar to be towed behind my RV.

Anybody have a recommendation on a towbar?

Also, how much I need to drop on the Pathy to tow since it is an automatic w/ 4x4. I know most times for automatics you need to drop the driveshaft so the tranny doesn't burn up.

I'm not sure about a towbar, you could probably go down to a U-Haul sort of place and they would square you away with the right sort of thing. If you read in your manual it says something about how you should tow it, but I'm not sure if that's valid information or not... :)

you could use a dolly too. Just drive the front axle onto it. I'm pretty sure the rear wheels need to be supported as well (at least when mine got towed with a dead alternator)

I'm not sure about towing the pathy in particular, but i do know that some vehicled shouldn't be towed, should be towed with the transfer case in Neutral, or the transmission in neutral, it would be wise to double check all this before towing for any distance.
