keyless entry

I bought my 93 Se pathfinder about a year ago and i was woundering if there is anyway to check to see if the car orginally came with keyless entry. The previous owners didnt have a remote for it but they didnt have very much information about the car. Is there a way to check or know if it does based on some of the features it has or i can go to a nissan dealer and have them run the vin?

In my 95 LE there was a small box under the driverside seat that had a yellow button in the center of it that controled the system. If that box exists in your truck i would asume that you have it?

yeah i have the alarm switch in the middle it has a red light on it but its always blinking fast. it never stops tho even when the car is on. If i have this switch does that mean i used to have keyless entry?

if you have the alarm, you had keyless entry. sounds like it malfunctioning. you can also research the standard features and available options at edmunds.com

ok so i looked around on the pathy today. It does have the red blinking light in the center by the ebrake. It flashes really fast tho and never stops. I also looked under the drivers side seat. There is a large black metal enclosure on the side closest to the door with alot of wires going to it. Does that mean i have keyless? The nissan dealer in my down claims the vechial doesnt have it but why would it have the car alarm and the black box you guys speak of if it didnt have the keyless.

According to my '95 ConsumerGuide book (I tend to collect and build libraries with this kind of stuff) the SE model has keyless entry as standard equipment so you should have the capability.

 

I bought my XE used and it didn't have any keyless with it (previous owner probably lost it) but I was persistent and bought a remote off of eBay. I tired to reprogram it and it worked with that little box under the driver's seat. I'd say it's worth a shot to try it! It's a nice luxury.
