ATF flush -- now whining at idle -

I had an ATF transmission flush done at the local EZ-lube ($25 oil change place, use all mobil fluids) just yesterday. It is my QX4's first ATF change ever, in 137k miles. I also had the tranny cooler in the radiator flushed out. Wow, the fluid was dark brown and smelled burnt.

The transmission shifts noticeably smoother. I didn't originally expect any change, I thought it was smooth before but now shifts are virtually unnoticeable during smooth driving.

ANYWAYS - it develops a whine at idle now. The whine will go away after a minute of driving but comes back after a minute of idling. It whines right away on a cold start. The car drives great but the noise throws up a red flag for me, it did not make any noise before the flush.

I tried checking the fluid with engine off and it read too full, but then i found on the internet that you are supposed to check the fluid with warm engine idling, tranny in "Park".

What do you guys think/know?

I've heard people say that transmission flushes are a bad thing if they aren't done regular... can cause your tranny to, literally, explode.

Then again, I've heard some people say the exact opposite.

Couldn't tell ya mate... does she feel like she'd driving good?

you probably need to go back and have them dump the exess fluid. make sure it is ATF like it is supposed to be.. these quick lube places are known for stupid stuff like not putting the right fluid in the right area; or at times they'll not put in anything at all; sometimes way too much.

if done right, change it as often as the manual calls for.
