Alright well yesterday morning the truck ran fine. And later in the evening when i went to go shoveling i noticed that when i left the truck to idle even after it had warmed up that the tack would jump from 1 to 2 grand and then fall back down to 1. I cant figure out whats going on. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Actually, no. One temp switch only runs your gauge, the CHTS(cylinder head temp sensor) gives the ECU info on how hot the engine is. Your thermostat could be stuck open or the temp switch could be disconnected or something. The temp switch should be in front of the engine on top of the intake but under the air cleaner.
