Heater Problems, anyone help?

ok after hearing a few people with pathfinders have EXCELLENT heat, im a little jealous and would like to figure out why I do not. It heats up fast and all but if I go anything over the 2nd fan speed, i get a really loud noise, if I go all the way, it feels like the whole dash is vibrating and I do not get anymore heat comming out than the second setting. I'm guessing its my heater fan but has anyone replaced one of these or had a similar problem?

On really cold days (--20 to 30f) about the only thing I can really see out of is my windshield, forget about the back windows.

thanks mucho in advance

you have no defrost on the rear glass?

the fan may or may not be broken.. shaking or noises suggest that there is something hitting the fan possibly? mine does that but i still have great heat.. i will venture a guess that maybe your heat exchanger is plugged up with deposits.. you can do the citric flush and see if that helps. or look into plug in electric heaters.. cig lighter is all you need. :)

I would guess it is packed with leaves or mouse carcasses(just kidding on the dead bodies)

Mine worked fine until I parked it for a month and now I can here the whaahahaha when it is on a higher speed.

Time to clean her out (I almost froze on the way to work in my sandals!) Expecting snow tonite so popping the glove compartment to clean "the trap"

then hot as hell heat once again.

Yep, just behind the glove box. Im betting on a mouse that tried to make a home, or a plastic bag that got sucked up in there. 3 screws, connector and the breather and out she comes. Hopefully you wont have a hard one. I have gone as far as removing the cap on the end and cleaned some of the dust out. Sounds like something is in there throwing it out of balance.

The cleaning part, yeah. Once you drop the motor down, you will have the fan blades attached(or better known as the squirrel cage). On the other end on some, you can removed the cap that on the end and see the dust. you can tear it down further, but I usually got away with smacking it a couple of times. Even used compressed air, just dont breath the dust. I have revived several blower motors that way.
