Slight Hesitation Normal?

I have had my 95 Pathfinder LE 4x4 100,526 miles for about a month now, 4x4'n on the beach! My question is- I know they are characteristically sluggish, but, mine seems a little odd. It accelerates in steps under normal acceleration in 2k-3krpm range. I can feel it, and I can actually see the the tach move kinda like a poorly made wristwatch. Do they all do that? Any suggestions would be welcomed. Thanks!

no, it's in 2wd on nice flat roads. She wasn't wanting to idle a one day last week, so i cleaned the throttle body. that is the only thing i have really dug into in the engine bay. maybe i should try some of those common little repairs(egr, O2, plugs, MAF)?
