JGC Springs installed.

Just thought I'd share pics of the fruits of my labor. I installed a set of JGC springs in the back of my 88 Pathy. Sorry that the before pics are in daylight and the after are in the dark. It's too hot to work midday here in the Phoenix AZ area. So I started about 1 hour before sunset and finished w/ a halogen lamp.

 

I think I only got 2 inches of lift because I care a full size spare on a tire carrier.

 

Eventually I need to do a little fender trimming, and get bigger tires.

 

Well, on to the pics.

 

First pic: I painted the springs blue metallic. I thought it would look good with my black Pathy.

That's what I did too, only I left the top coil a lot flatter than you did. That way the end of the coil doesn't try to poke a hole into the upper spring perch and coil spacer.

So it;s better to heat and bend the pigtails than to just cut'em off?

Cutting off the pigtail reduces the height of the spring. Heating it up and bending it out keeps the full length/height of the spring and doesn't cause any adverse problems.

haha.. thats why i put the bent up side on the diff... they kinda collapsed a bit anyways.. thats why i needed spacers

BTW you gotta bend em in 4 or 5 places to get it so it looks-fits right

Exactly. I used MAPP gas on a trigger torch and a small pipe over the end of the spring to bend it in quite a few different places. Looks good afterwards.

Those are some massive pics, dude. =) Size 'em down to like 800x600 unless the detail's really needed. I could use the picture of your Pathy as a desktop wallpaper, but... no. =P

Doesnt heating up the coils weaken them?? i just cut the pigtail off.

Heating up coils weakens them, yes. But I'm not heating them up in the MIDDLE, for chrissakes. Wake up, Chromotech.
