Help ! Whats wrong with my Path ?

Recommended Posts

Ok, I just got my Pathfinder, a 94 XE its all stock and I just took it out to go get it a little muddy. Well, I went into a little puddle... well I thought it was little, anyways I got stuck and took on water on the passenger side and I got the computer a little wet. Now it will start up ok but if I hit the gas it dies! I dryed out everything for the most part so do you think that my computer is gone ? what should I do to fix this ? when I was stuck the path was runnin fine till the water got inside thats why I think its just the computer... could it be something else?

Thanks for the help. I new at this !

A little muddy, a little puddle, and a little wet. =P I think your computer could be a little fried. =) Just kidding... anyways, I think there's ways to salvage it if that ends up being the problem, but it very well might not be. Beats me.

if you think its the ecu easyest thing to do is to go to a wrecker and grab another one (get one on the cheap in other words)

have you taken the distributor cap right off and check for water in there?

The ECU has to be from the same year, engine and transmission-equipped Pathfinder as yours. That is to say, it needs to be from a 1994 V6 with an auto as opposed to being from a '94 V6 with a manual tranny, if that's what you have. That being said, bathing the ECU while the engine and ignition is on is a good way to fry it and make the vehicle not run afterwards, yes. :)
