Aloha from the middle of the pacific

Just wondering if the the battery was connected backwards till it killed the battery(this is how i received the pathy) would that for sure kill the computer. i mean shouldn't there be things between to stop the roasting of the ecm? if so what and how to test. i ask because theres no junk yard to get cheap parts and no body to test ecm. maui has not much of anything and it all cost an arm and a leg for EVERYTHING.

Im also asking because i just tested for spark and got none.

Thanks for the help

Aloha

Dan

I'd be surprised if *any* of your engine control electronics survived. Semiconductors do not appreciate having reversed power flow.

If you connect the battery backwards, it is very, very, very likely that at the very least the ECU is dead. And while there may be fuses between the battery and the ECU, fuses do not protect against reversed polarity. Diodes do, and I can't think of anybody that puts diodes in series between the battery and the ECU. The ECU controls spark and fuel on the VG30, IIRC, so if your ECU is dead, you won't get spark at all anyway.

As for parts - http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Nissan-Path...1QQcmdZViewItem

And - http://motors.search.ebay.com/?from=R40&am...=Pathfinder+ECU

eBay is often cheaper than your local junkyard.
