Alignment

Hey guys whats the standard charge on having our pathys aligned ? Im getting mine aligned and I want to make sure that theyre not going to give me a bunch of bull in doing the alignment or some extra charges thats not necessary.

 

Ive also pulled a couple of uca before and the shim that was used are actual washers that goes behind the spindle bolts,but when I did mine the shim that was used was like a horseshoe type shim. does it matter what shims the alignment people use?

 

Im also assuming the rears doesnt need to be messed with :confused:

Hard to say on price. They range from 60 to 150+ dollars around here. I dont know about the shims either, but im guessing washers are fine, but the horse shoe type would be easier to install/remove to get the correct camber. Also the rear doesnt need to be done, i dont think it can be done actually. Oh, alot of people like to get their alignments done by firestone because the offer life time alignments. (get one done, get another done if need be on same vehicle) Which is good if you offroad, or ever change your ride hide again, or it changes on its own from tbar sag or whatever.

Nope, no rear wheel adjustment, so if they try to sell you a 4 wheel alignment, better head for the door; they are trying to shaft you...

 

DO NOT let them jack up the front end prior the alignment. The front ends need a day or so to settle once this is done. If they jack it up, the alignment will be off in a day or two. How much, I don't know, I just remember reading it...

The firestone idea is becoming more and more popular as time goes on. They run $150 regularly (iirc) but have sales fairly often for $120-$130.

 

Mr. Pickles had his done there and said he's been back a few times with no complaint from them.

Thanks guys. Im going to check around now armed with a bit of knowledge.

 

Im going to make sure that I tell them not to jack it up after the alignment just to make sure eventhough they probably already know that I could never tell .
