Cone Air Intake upgrade

I was planning on going with a K&N Filter for my 95XE, but came across this listed on AC.

 

Has anyone tried one of these things? And if so what is the general consensus? It boasts a 5 HP increase, and the K&N only boasted 2HP. Description and pic from their website below...

The "5 HP Increase" is a complete estimate. The amount of power you get out of installing one of those depends greatly on the overall condition of the engine in the first place. If you put a cone filter on a 90 HP 4-cylinder with old spark plugs and a dirty carburetor, don't expect 5 HP!

dude.. this is a 4x4 beast not a quarter mile monster... you want cold air? install a snorkel.. point it into the wind. plenty of cold air, ram air and even a nifty bug catcher.. as for the k&n.. why not..

Yeah, if its dangerous when a bird gets sucked into a plane engine, I can only wonder what it's going to do to your V6.

HAHAHA... (Hysterical Laughter).. ive hit a bird before HAHA.. never thought of it that way... might be cool though.. you could paint little birdies on your fender every time you get one, just like a bomber

That's excellent. Yep, you could, but I think those feathers might cause a problem.
