SteeevO
Just found that JET Performance also reprograms the pathy ECU... i wonder how it compares to the JWT program??.... any input?? Edited February 21, 2007 by SteeevO
unccpathfinder
so its possible to receive programmed ecu's?...i thought they were non-flashable...if you get 1 thats programed does that make it flashable? if so some smart computer folks need to figure that out for us...i think it would be fun and interesting to tune up the pathy for daily driving then for off roading... sorry i didnt have any input to benefit you but i thought this was interesting... SteeevO
on thier page it looks like you need to send it in just like you would with JWT
SteeevO
i spoke to the guys at JET they said JWT will do a more in depth tune so just take it there.
unccpathfinder
i see...i'd be really interested to see what they do...i bet they hard mod the board somehow then flash it...i'll have to look around sometime and see if theres any pics out there...or buy a scrap ecu and take it apart and see what all is in there... Pavelow Leaks
they mod the chip with different fuel curves, shift points and whatnot, then solder the chip into the board, basically the same as a handheld OBII programmer, but since its OBD 1 there's no interface with the chip so you just replace it. 88pathoffroad
Yeah, they have to desolder the chip and program a new one, then solder it back in or use a ROM seat and solder that back in instead. Lee from L&P has a chip reader and editor, he says the factory maps SUCK.
solid snake
Whoa, just checked out the site and pricing. All of a sudden I felt a big empty whole in the pocket. It would have been nice to see what kind of h/p gains you would have and if it would require 92 octane or not.
SteeevO
i took an extra ECU appart to take a peek under the cover.. it's not that exciting.. yes the chip is soldered on teh board.. and from what i have read they unsolder the stock chip and put a socket in there so from then on teh chips can be replaced by sinmply pulling the chp out of the socket and pressing in a new one... Where can i get a chip reader/programmer and editor for these ships?.. i'd like to start playing with it. i already have a pretty good i dea of how it all works etc. i've been a EET major in school for over 2 years now.. 've done alot of c, c++ & assembly programmig as well as visual basic and webpage stuff...
unccpathfinder
I just went googling around and figured that a bunch of the ricer guys have figured this out on the 300's and what not...heres a program that can read what ure ecu is doing...i dont know what hookups u need or anything but i thought it was interesting http://202.43.226.57/
SteeevO
looks to me like that won't work on the (W)D21s.. it needs that plug ....
89_trailboss
I too had spoken to Lee from L&P a while ago about this. jsut like 88 said, what he does is desolders the chip, solders in a socket and reprograms a new chip. then anytime you do somthing to your motor you can simply unplug the chip and send that down to him and he will reflash the chip. or somthing like that. really wish Lee could get back on the fourms. that guy had some pretty extensive knowlage on these ol motors. LEE, COME BACK
