I've finally begun

So I finally got off my lazy but to fix this thing and now I have a question. The bar that i thought was a cross memeber for the frame that had broken off seems to be connected to the rear axle, is this a vital part of the truck for safety? I don't have any pics but maybe one of you guys knows what im talking about.

thanks

Anything that used to be connected to the rear axle should probably be put back where it came from.

I can't tell you without pics or being there. Cut out the rust, grind/wire wheel it down and weld in new so it closely resembles the old setup as best you can.

The best I can describe it as is a steel tube that is welded to the bottom of the frame with a mount right in front of the rear wheels. If you have a lift you can see it plain as day. Its sitting on top of the exhaust right now and i tried to lift it but its really heavy. I have been slowly cuttin out the other rusty parts and plating it in, but this looks like it'll be the hardest.

thanks and i hope that described it better this time.

I know my 95 is rusty framed (only behind the rear wheels) where the WI-sconsin Winter Super Salted roads ate at my frame. Recently lifted it and noticed it was only behind the tires as the car wash wouldn't hit those spots. But it is an excuse to get a welder!!!!

Mechanically I love it, as it starts every day and runs fine!

Oh I've got another question about this frame business. This truck is NOT currently plated for the road. It will have to go through an ontario safety inspection. So is there any possibility of this thing passing it with the frame patched up with plates?
