Question with replacing bolts on Manual Hubs

Just received my manual hubs

Manual Hubs

And I was wondering about the bolts that secures the driveflange (threads on both ends). I will be replacing them but I was wondering if I needed to put anything on them. I know that will change its torque specification but I only ask because the drive flange had a rubber type of substance on it not sure what for. Please help to clarify. Thanks.

when i put the warn hubs on my pathfinder i did not use anything. i had the same question but didn't know about npora. i just installed and let it be. no issues so far and that was about 2 yrs ago. they still work great. i have a 91 pathfinder so it might be different in your application.

Also I'm wondering if I need to use something like lock-tite?

And possibly high-temp brake grease like "dkpath96" had mentioned even though it says 'factory-greased" already....?

Statikuz never mentioned (when installing the new bolts) that he used any lock-tite. ...?

I have heard of many people breaking the included Warn studs off in the hubs, forcing them to replace the entire hub assembly. Worried about that, I kept my factory studs and just used the Warn nuts, but a couple of years ago, 4 of them broke off inside the hub and I had to replace the hub assembly also.

Now, I'm using metric cap screws and lockwashers (with blue locktite) to hold the Warn hub on.

It's a little more inconvenient to remove the Warn hub body, but at least I don't have to worry about broken studs.

Whoa! Thanks for the heads up guys, going to have to shop around then for some metric cap screws...I'll need to figure out what size exactly.....oh well

Just take one of the studs and nuts with you when you shop. Find a screw whose length is about the same as the stud and whose threads match the threads of the nut.

You'll need 12 screws.
