Time for a new intake...

Well, I figure that since I dont have much off-road time anymore, I can at least get some better on-road performance.

 

How much gain are we looking at with a new intake for ~$100...

 

 

And where can I find a nice cheap one? my $200 insurance bill is due next payday, so it cant be TOO expensive :\

One of the most common intakes is the cone one like the JWT pop-charger which is supposed to give about 5HP and sells for between $110-160 depending on the site. I don't know anybody who has tried the HKS. You could also just replace your filter with a K&N for much cheaper.

Yeah, that's what I'm saying. You can just get a K&N replacement for your stock airbox. Or you can replace the whole airbox with a cone. You should get more improvement by replacing the whole box, but even then you are looking at perhaps 5hp.

I have a K&N cone filter. I noticed a tiny bit more throttle response about 1 to 1.5 mpg gain if you drive like grandma. Main thing I noticed is that it sounds alot better when you give it some throttle (so much for mpg gain ) All in all I like it, but keep your stock air-box for when you do decide to go off-roading.
