so i drove through this puddle near school and turns out its full of road salt. because morton salt storage is up the street. if i were to clean the engine and hosed it down what would the best way to do this be. thanks for the help. pathfinder 97 blah blah blah

If your worried about getting the electrics wet you could spray the wires with silicone first. I washed mine down when I did the timing belt, started no prob after, try not to fill the spark plug holes with water, may take a while to dry out.

And dont pour too much on the alternater either.....just a quick spray down. I fried an alternater because a puddle formed inside it when I sprayed it down....over did it, but other than that, I soak the bad boy with simple green and hose it.

Try using crud cutter. That stuff works great :aok:

 

Believe it or not crud cutter cuts thru grease better than any engine degreaser and its safer. I always use fine mist on the garden hose sprayer when rinsing.

 

I use it to clean almost everything outdoor like my lawnmower , snowblower. :D
