New guy in Baltimore with EGR delete ?

I posted this in the "New People Start here" section but I'm not sure I'll get the narrowed down expertise that is in the WD21 section. I am in the midst of making my 87 streetable (it sat in the prior owners yard for 3 years before I picked it up last year). I've got it all redone (rockers, floors, suspension bits, brake lines) and I've been piecing the exhaust together with pieces I find on ebay. I'm down to the exhaust manifolds (I've been putting them off but when I broke the studs to the Y pipe it became a necessity) I want to block off the EGR valve since I can't get the line unhooked from the old manifold. I made a basic delete plate and gasket to bolt to the intake and plugged the boss on the manifold, Is there anyting else I need to do or am I good with that. Will the truck still run like it's supposed to or do I need to bite the bullet and replace the EGR and hard line?

I do not know for a fact on WD21 how it will run without the EGR.

On my Chevy's, the idle is rougher without the EGR, and cruise fuel economy drops about 1 or 2 mpg without the EGR. And of course, it will never pass smog without it.

Thanks for the invite, I may need to take you up on that. I am trying a different route to see if I can get it to work. I was replacing the manifolds because I broke off the stads that hold the down pipe on. I am going to try and reuse the old manifold (with egr and air induction tubes still attached) and just work on removing the old broken studs from the manifold. I got two of them out with heat and PB blaster and ended up completely drilling out the third, can't get it straight enough to reuse the old threads so I have to try and find a 10MMx1.5 tap to rethread.

On a similar note. Good News, the three studs I snapped off in the head when I took off the old manifolds are out. Sears sells these new EZ outs that have a reverse drill bit on one side and a spiral remover on the other. They have a little shoulder about 1/4 inch up the bit and they took out the broken studs with ease. Personally, I feel like it was a big win for me. Now all I have to do is sort out emissions stuff.

Once I get this all back together, I'll update with sime pics
