Dan, sorry to hear that about Marcel. If you do happen to talk to him, let him know that I'd like to support him if he's interested, and if not it's not a big deal to use someone local.

Hopefully it will be out SOON.

Yeah, I haven't even seen him online in about a week, so hopefully everything is going OK. He's going through a pretty rough divorce, so I'm sure he's pretty burnt out on a lot of stuff. His ex-wife took the R50, so who knows if he'll even be able to develop much in the near future anyways.

In the mean time, it wouldn't hurt to get some quotes from local companies. I'll talk to him about it as soon as I can.

Tyler, let me know if you find local companies to fab up skid plates as I will also check around, but I will probably check around denver/commerce city area since that is where I work. I need skids too. I know I do not have your lift (YET....) but I still need skids and seeing that marcell is laying low makes me think I should possibly look elsewhere. I too am broke right now so I feel your pain. Hopefully I am about to line up some side work for some extra $$.

One of the guys that I would really like to fab up some skids (at least the front one) is Jed over at Armorology.com. They're in Colorado Springs so it would be a bit of a drive, and I'm not sure if he would want to make 15+ of them since they're usually a one-off type business. Have you ever heard of a company here called Xtreme Engineering? Supposed to be a guy named Nick off of Mulberry that does some AWESOME fab work. I had a website for them awhile ago but now I can't find it on Google. If you find any good local places let me know.

I have'nt heard of Xtreme engineering but I was thinking about calling MTO suspension fabricators. I had a friend that knew somebody who did alot of fab work for bullhide 4x4 on college ave. If that guy you are talking about down in the springs will make even a couple I could probably pick them up. I send one of my employees down there about once every two weeks or so. I could possibly have him pick them up. Just throwing out some ideas tyler. dam it makes me want to go ahead and call and get one fabbed up but I am broke :(

I might have to wait until I sell a few kits to recoup a few of my own bucks I put into the lift project. :P

If you have someone that goes down to the springs often that might work out well. Shipping these things won't be cheap. I just sent him an email and he'll probably get back to me quick. I almost had him build me a bumper and he's a great guy to work with.

I've considered doing all the measurements and drawing it in CAD to have it fabbed up, but I'm not sure I can get all the angles and everything correct. I might leave that up to the pros.

Well let me know what the guy in the springs says. If they are the right price I would definetly find a way to pick them no prob. Will your skid be like mine for my stock pathy? or will it have to be modified for your dropped sub frame and lift?

I know what you are saying about telling everybody to buy blackpanther skids but as it stands marcell is not around and who knows when he will be back.Would marcell have to modify the skids to fit your truck with the lift? guess that is what I was really asking.

Yep his skids won't fit as it is. The lower mounting point is 4" lower, so the skid would need to be extended (overall longer) and steeper bends from the two mounting points. I'm not sure how he would make one unless there is someone with an r50 close, since I have had some interest in Canada. We'll see if we hear from him anytime soon. I won't be getting a skid made for a little while, definitely not until after my springs come in which might be 2 weeks.

there is a one man fab shop in loveland that does custom work for good cash prices. Ive seen his work. I have his card somewhere so ill have to find it and maybe give it to zonian brat when i check out his tires. Anyhow, hes local, good, and could use the business. He was referred by a friend of mine who works with me at kodak in windsor. if that doesnt work out I know a custom rod shop that may be interested depending on price quantity etc. etc. Im also in fort fun so we should get something going, plus id like to see the lift in person! zonian brat, I'll be around CSU tomorrow so Ill give you a call. thanks

If you've got the guys number I'd definitely like to give him a try. The only concern I have is whether or not he has the capability of producing 20 of them off of one that he builds using a test vehicle. If you can find a number or email I'd like to get in touch with him. There's more Fort Collins people on here than I ever though there would be.

I searched for his card but cant find it.. Ill stop by his shop on the way home on friday to chat with him. Since I have a 97, he can get an idea of what a factory plastic one looks like and give me an idea of the costs associated with making one similar to the stock one but out of steel or maybe even thick aluminum. In regards to MTO and Extreme, they are good fab shops but I sincerely believe prices will be higher. Extreme is by riverside and mulberry and they have some cool Jeeps in there.. My friend inquired about them building a full cage for his CJ-7 and they wanted to much money for what they were going to build.. NOT to say these shops are bad but, others such as frontrange fab, and trailridge are more customer oriented and not out to make the high dollar stuff. Just my .02 cents..Im a wrencher on a budget so every dollar counts..

Jason I too am interested in getting a skid plat made so keep me informed. Sorry we could not talk more about our trucks the other day. I read your post and I do not think it is a good idea to make the skid out of aluminum. I had a thought of making some sliders out of aluminum b/c my job deals with aluminum and I know alot of people who fab and weld aluminum. Problem is aluminum is softer and will tend not so slide but hang and drag on rocks I was told this by people on this forum and it does make alot of sense. Steel is the way to go IMO. Blackpanther uses all 3/16 gauge steel but they used to use 10 guage. If your guy can make skids then I would like 10 guage. Keep my updated you got my number.

so Tyler is your lift completely done? I met jason yesterday and we talked for a bit about our trucks nice guy. We both want to see your lift and hope to put something together like a run at moody hill or pingree or even flowers rd before all the forrestry roads get closed.

I would definitely like to get a run together before the trails are closed. I have a few things to fix on the lift before it's really DONE and can be abused.

1) The subframe blocks I have aren't welded very well. The guy wasn't certified and definitely didn't know what he was doing. Still scares the S$@# out of me everytime I hit a bump.

2) The rear springs. It could be 4 weeks before my new ones come in and I really can't stand driving it the way it is until then.

I will most likely take the lift off this weekend if I have the time and be a little more prepared now that I know everything fits and works well. Hopefully when I reinstall the lift again I'll have a new set of tires ready to be put on and the rear springs will be here as well.

I'm also working with a company on an idea for the blocks that would avoid having any welds. I'm hoping I can find rectangular tube in a close size and have it milled down, then cut it into section and drill the holes. Much stronger than having all the pieces plasma cut and welded, and probably cleaner looking, too.

For everyone that hasn't seen them, here are a bunch of pictures I posted on my site.

Here are the strut blocks.

DON'T let this happen during install.

Try to avoid this too.
